WOBURN, Mass. (AP) - A lawyer for a Boston man charged with
killing his grandmother in her Weston home says his client is not
criminally responsible for the slaying.

Attorney Richard Bailey said at a hearing in Middlesex Superior
Court on Wednesday that 22-year-old James Maguire Clark has several
mental health issues and should not be held criminally responsible
for the March 15 slaying of 80-year-old Eleanor Clark.

Prosecutors want to have a psychologist examine Clark.

Authorities say Clark, a British citizen who has spent most of
his life in the U.S., beat and stabbed his grandmother during a
fight. He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and assault
and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The slaying was the first homicide in the affluent Boston suburb
in 33 years.
