Search resumes for missing Mass. fishermen

WELLFLEET, Mass. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard and local fishermen
are expected to resume searching for two missing fishermen who
reported that they were taking on water near Cape Cod Canal.

Local fishing boat owner Tobin Storer said several fishermen
were expected to go out to sea Thursday morning to search for the
crew of the Carol and Allison used a cell phone to ask the Coast
Guard for help Wednesday afternoon.

The crew of a nearby tug reported they heard the Wellfleet,
Mass.-based boat issue a Mayday call from Cape Cod Bay.

The missing fishermen are reportedly wearing life jackets. An
urgent marine broadcast was issued, asking boaters in the area to
look out for them.

A Coast Guard helicopter and fishing boats searched the area.

Storer said Christopher Merl was captain of the 9-ton vessel.
