Mass. wants solar power at Westfield State College

By CBS 3 Springfield News

BOSTON, Mass. (AP) - State environmental officials say they are
looking for bids to install solar-powered energy at some publicly
owned facilities, including a 2.75 megawatt system at Boston's
Logan International Airport.

State officials said Tuesday the first phase of a plan to
generate 16 megawatts of solar-powered energy will also bring
panels to Westfield State College, state water resource facilities
and a housing authority building in Somerville.

The solar stimulus plan's $20 million will help finance the
solar installations. State officials have not released a total cost
for the projects.

The energy and environmental board says it is seeking bids to
install this set of solar panels, which will produce 5.35 megawatts
of electricity.
