Boston firefighter pleads not guilty to rape charge

By CBS 3 Springfield News

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - A Boston deputy fire chief charged with
forcing a woman to perform sex acts at gunpoint in June has pleaded
not guilty.

A spokeswoman for the Plymouth District Attorney's office says
51-year-old Peter Pearson of East Bridgewater was ordered held on
$50,000 bail at his arraignment in Brockton District Court on
Wednesday.

Spokeswoman Bridget Norton Middleton says if he makes bail, he
must stay away from the alleged victim and wear an electronic
monitoring device.

Pearson is charged with aggravated rape, assault with a deadly
weapon, impersonating a police officer and armed kidnapping.

Pearson's lawyer says the alleged victim was desperate because
she was facing prostitution charges.

Pearson is on unpaid leave.
