Man Pleads Guilty to 10-Year-Old Rape Case

By CBS 3 Springfield News

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Worcester man has pleaded guilty to
raping a college student a decade ago after being tied to the crime
through DNA evidence.

Altariq Dunston pleaded guilty on Monday to aggravated rape and
home invasion charges in Worcester Superior Court. He was sentenced
to 11 to 15 years in prison.

A 25-year-old Becker College student was raped in her Cedar
Street dormitory in April 1998. Although nobody was charged at the
time, investigators collected DNA evidence.

The specimen was entered into the state criminal DNA database
and in 2006 Worcester police matched it to Dunston, who was in
prison for a 2004 burglary conviction.

Dunston was also ordered to undergo alcohol and drug treatment,
register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender treatment.
