Springfield Campanile Problems

By CBS 3 Springfield News

An emergency measure is being taken to protect the campanile in Springfield’s Court Square.

Black aluminum netting is being installed along the corners to keep the limestone exterior from popping loose.

A Wilmington construction company was hired for the temporary repair which will run the city just over $89,000.

Officials said this a temporary fix. It will last for up to five years until a more permanent repair can be done
