In honor of Roberto Clemente’s legacy, the New North Citizens Council has formed a Roberto Clemente Softball league.

League representatives said they hope to follow in his footsteps and work with the community to make Springfield's parks a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

"We had a lot of help from the city in fixing this field which was horrible and depleted and not used for years so the city actually came through and fixed this Diamond which is now one of the best in Springfield," said Eric Maldonado, of the Roberto Clemente Softball League.

The league has scheduled regular season games at the Jaime Ulloa Park in Morgan Street in Springfield.
