A melee breaks out at a Central High School football game.

Just outside the stadium entrance, late in the fourth quarter, a fight involving dozens of men and women broke out. "Everybody in the stands came out," Bianca Ottaviani.

Kids jumped over fences. Some to get away, others to jump right in. "Boys fighting, boys getting jumped. Girls fighting, girls getting jumped," says witness Wendolyn Villalovos.

The brawl lasted for 10 minutes. Dozens of state and local police officers converged on the school, and made arrests. At least two people were handcuffed.

Witnesses say this fight was between two gangs: Ave and Sycamore. A witness says, someone from Sycamore threw down a rival gang member's hat, and it was on. One person was stabbed. He was taken to an area hospital.

The fight did not reach the football field. The game was stopped for a while, but eventually concluded.

School administrators say while this fight was unfortunate, it was something they prepared for. "Things like this we do practice runs, and I think we did a great job," says Vice Principal Tad Tokarz.

Central students are sad to see Friday night lights, ruined by a Friday night brawl. "It's kinda sad how we can't enjoy a football game. Because people don't know how to behave themselves and keep drama somewhere else that they have to handle it in public. In the end, it spoils it for everybody, Villalovos says.

School officials say despite the brawl, they plan to move forward with their season.
