Pioneer Valley businesses talked to western Massachusetts high school students about careers in the sciences. 40 local companies in technology and engineering came to Holyoke Community College for their annual career exploration fair.

More than 500 students from 13 high schools had the opportunity to learn about clean energy from Flo Design Wind Turbine." They also found out about the company Hamilton Standard which creates space suits for NASA.

"It is for these students to come talk to these employers and say 'what do I need to know to get a job in this career?’” said Theresa D. Howard, Ed.D, Dean of cooperative education and career services at Holyoke Community College. “’What are you looking for in a student coming out of school? How did you get your job? What does your company do?' It's information gathering."

This 14th annual career fair is a collaboration between Holyoke Community College and Springfield Technical Community College.
