Police say two brothers are behind a string of cemetery thefts in Hampshire County.

Last week several veteran cemeteries in Amherst, Hadley and Sunderland were robbed of their bronze plaques. Those plaques detailed in which wars the veterans served.

Tuesday, police arrested two Montague brothers, Mark and Stanley Kuklewicz. Both have been charged with larceny over $250 and larceny on a grave. According to the Republican, both are the sons of a decorated war veteran.

Police and residents believe the men tried to melt the bronze down to be sold. The value for each plaque is estimated around $5.

Police believe the brothers got away with more than 100 plaques. 74 have since been recovered.

Mark is being held on $500 bail. Stanley is being held on $750 bail.

Send the two bums to Afghanistan so they can get their own grave markers. No, that would be disrespectful to those honorable military men and women who serve us so proudly. Just dump them in the river.
