Westfield Police are looking into their first murder of the year. Lt. Hipolito Nunez says at 11:30 last night 51 year old James Kenyon called 911 and told the dispatcher he had just killed his girlfriend.

When police arrived they found Kenyon sitting on the front steps of their 30 Northridge Road home. He told police his girlfriend was inside.

Once inside police found 51 year old Alice Connors on the living room floor. She had been strangled by Kenyon with a belt.

Paramedics tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Kenyon was arrested and taking into custody.

Thursday morning Kenyon was arraigned in Westfield District Court. He is being held without the right to bail.
