Doug Campbell and his family have run the Hands Together organization for twenty years, he flew into port a prince, Haiti at 2 o'clock Tuesday. Just hours later he become one of the 3 million people caught in the middle of a full scale catastrophe.

"It’s worse than they are saying it is, he just kept saying its worse than they are saying it is," said Kaitlyn Campbell.

That’s the extent of the conversation Kaitlyn Campbell had with her father late Tuesday night, after hours spent worrying if he was still alive. Tuesday's 7.0 magnitude earthquake has left the already impoverished nation even deeper in despair.

Doug Campbell has worked with Hands Together founder Tom Hagan for over two decades, helping the extremely poor people of Haiti in countless ways.

"I think for this one he was just going to meet a guy to drill a water well, just one of the things he was going to do"

Hands together is based out of an office on Everett street in Springfield.
Tuesday's mission was one of hundreds for Campbell, his trips with Father Hagan recorded videos to provide evidence of the calamity Haiti faces. All this taped before the largest earthquake the nation has ever faced.

"Its a tough place, our hope is that our schools will bring a little bit of peace, a little bit of comfort, love into the lives of kids who live in a place as close to hell as we can imagine," said Doug Campbell

Those schools now flattened, the mission headquarters were destroyed, safe havens reduced to rubble. Kaitlyn herself has spent a lot of time there, and wonders just how much the country can take.

"There is just a history of instability, violence, and extreme poverty, a situation like this, it’s probably the worst place this could happen," said Kaitlyn Campbell.

For now the family and staff is in a holding pattern, waiting for the phone to ring with information, scanning websites for insight into the ever worsening situation.
