A father and son are dead after a string of suspicious fires pop up around the region. Now, an all out investigation that spans several agencies, is now honing in on Northampton.

No one wants to believe it, but after a string of suspicious fires, residents are faced with no other choice.

"This must be the work of an arsonist," says Northampton City Councilor Bob Reckman.

Father and son, Paul Yeskie and Paul Jr., were both killed in their Fair Street home on Sunday morning. That fire was just one of nine early morning blazes that have shaken Northampton.

"It makes you realize how vulnerable you are," one resident says.

In the course of a weekend, five houses and four cars were set ablaze. Sources say a total of 18 fire attempts were made all around town.

"We thought this neighborhood would be safer. Cause there had been several attempted arsons when they attempted to burn down my neighbor's house with a trash can fire," one resident says.

Since 2007, over a dozen arsons were reported in the Hawley Street area. Just last month, town officials hosted meetings addressing the fires. Now, after the latest strings of blazes, everyone is on pins and needles, wondering if their home could be next.

"I feel like it could have been prevented. If more had been done for the fires that have been happening."

A special town meeting Tuesday night will address those concerns, and from talking with neighbors, they say they're wondering if more than one arsonist could be involved.

So far, the Northwestern District Attorney's office says stayed quiet on the status of the investigation.
