As the population ages the tables are being turned. Adult children need to look out for their parents more, that includes helping them with medical issues.

On Wednesday, Dr. Charles Cavagnaro, President and CEO of Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer and a practicing internist joined us live via Skype to answer questions about adult children helping their moms and dads with doctors.

Dr. Cavagnaro said the holidays are a perfect time to start talking to your parents about their medical needs and to check up on them. If you notice any change in behavior, losing weight, weight gain, or a change in their home or their appearance you might have to step in.

Dr. Cavagnaro said if you have concerns about your parents and they won't let you go to a doctor's appointment, you can call their doctor to speak with them. If they do let you go, be like Santa, and bring a list of your concerns and questions.
