Times have been tough for Luane Ross and her family as of late.

"It’s been a tough road for a couple of years," Ross said.

After the family was forced out of their apartment by mold, they found a place in Westfield. As it is for many families, money is tight. Christmas was looking bleak for Ross and her daughter, Eve, until a bit of hope resonated from the radio. That message was from radio station MIX 93.1 and the Hampden Bank "Brighten Your Holiday" promotion.

"I heard this message about what is your Christmas wish. So I asked Eve, what’s your Christmas wish? And she said, 'I want my sister’s home for Christmas, a turkey, and a Christmas tree with light,'” Ross said.

Today, Christmas is looking much brighter. Radio personalities Dan and Kim and their crew arrived with a tree and much more. They brought the very things that make a house a home. They brought the family's belongings.

"She had to move out in a hurry. POD was convenient for her. As Christmas approached, she really wanted to get her stuff back into her new location, and we were glad to help," said Rob Robitaille from PODS storage.

Since Ross was unable to pay to get her stuff out of storage, Hampden Bank took care of the bill, and PODs delivered the storage container for free.

"They said earlier, it's Christmas all over with the POD, and it is. You forget some of your things. There will be joy; you be like oh yes I still have this," Ross said.

For the morning show personalities, being a part of events like this helps make memories for everyone involved.

"This is what Christmas is really all about. We had talked on the air about how you may not remember from year to year what great Christmas present you receive, but you remember something like this," Matt Williams said.

"I think what really grabbed everyone was that she had gone through so much with her family and they didn't have a place to live and they were struggling to make everything come together and all her little girl wanted was a tree. She didn't care about presents she just wanted a sparkly tree," Kim Zachary said.
