More and more people are being diagnosed with diabetes. In HouseCalls we talk to a local doctor about how to control it.

Dr. Rene Umanzor, an endocrinologist, from Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer joined us via Skype on Monday to talk about the epidemic of diabetes here in the United States and across the world.

Dr. Umanzor said obesity is a factor in the disease and not eating a proper diet. He said if you do have diabetes you should check your blood sugar regularly, get exercise, and follow the advice of your doctor. If you don't, you can have serious complications, like blindness.

If you have a medical question you would like us to ask a doctor during a Skype interview, email us at housecalls@cbs3springfield.com.
