With the busy Thanksgiving travel, Peter Pan Bus Lines will to add up to 780 motor coaches to its regular service. The intercity bus line provides hourly service to major northeast cities, including Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C.

The company expects almost 150,000 passengers over the holiday weekend. That is about a 35 percent increase from a normal weekend.

"Traditionally this is the busiest period for us in the transportation industry," said Kevin Mulcahy, Peter Pan Director of Operations. "This is when families really do get together. We all want to go home and see mom, dad, and grandma. So this clearly is the biggest holiday, our busiest time."

More travelers are turning to bus transportation for convenience and environmentally-friendly service. A single motor coach can remove over 50 cars from the road, and provides 184 passenger miles-per-gallon.
