A fast-growing Wilbraham business received $1 million to support wind turbine technology. Congressman Richard Neal announced the federal appropriation at Flow Design Wind Turbine on Monday.

This company, in partnership with Western New England College, specializes in energy-efficiency research and development. Flo Design also received $8.3 million in stimulus funding from the U.S. Department of Energy last month.

"There's a window of opportunity here in terms of federal investment and private investment that will make us less dependent on foreign oil," Neal said. "Moving away from fossil fuels is not only good for the environment but it's good for America's security as well."

In the next month or two, Flo Design expects a few of their latest developments to be tested in the Wilbraham area.
