A Springfield man is arrested for allegedly beating a man, then watching from the crowd as emergency crews tend to the wounded victim. On the way into the ambulance the badly beaten man spotted his attacker watching, and police stepped in to nab him.
It happened on Commonwealth Avenue just after 4 am. The victim was walking from the Racing Mart when he was confronted by three men. He was then punched and kicked with steel toe boots while on the ground. While the victim was on the stretcher about to be wheeled into the ambulance, he identified one attacker who was standing in the crowd watching.
Police arrested 20-year old Courtney Jeffers of Belmont Avenue in Springfield, and tagged his steel toe boots as evidence. He's been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the boots used in the assault.
The victim is in stable condition, but suffered severe injuries to his face and head.
