Assault in Springfield Near Sumner Ave

In less than a week, another Springfield woman is sexually assaulted in the Sumner Ave. area.

Springfield police tell us a 29 year old woman was walking down Sumner Ave when she was offered a cigarette by a man standing on a porch. She then asked the man if she can use the phone. Once inside the home, the man allegedly tried to rape her. She fought back, escaped and called police from a nearby gas station.

Officers arrested 19 year-old Cody Santos. He's been charged with assault with intent to rape and kidnapping.
