Elaine Pluta becomes Holyoke's first female mayor as voters choose her to succeed the outgoing mayor, Michael Sullivan.

Pluta defeated her opponent, businessman Daniel Boyle 4,794 to 3,245.

Pluta has been a Holyoke City Councilor for 14 years.
