Residents who live on Greenacre Avenue in Longmeadow say their property value is going down and a yellow line in the middle of their street is to blame.

Residents living along Greenacre Avenue take pride in their safe, quiet neighborhood. But they said they are living along a highway ever since a yellow line was painted down the middle of their street.

"I woke up in the morning and all of a sudden we have lines down the street. It just didn't make any sense," Sandra Knoll said.

The stripe was supposed to slow speeders, but residents said the town went about solving the problem in the wrong way. They were not even notified the line would be painted.

Sandra Knoll is doing something about it. She gathered 50 signatures to get the line removed. Eighty-five percent of her neighborhood agrees the line needs to go.

"People feel when they are looking to sell their home, it will be tough. People with small children don't want to buy a home with a lot of traffic and with that line they associate it with traffic," Knoll said.

In a town meeting last Monday selectmen agreed to remove the line, but residents were not told when that would happen.

I'm in agreement with Sandra...you don't know what it's like until it happens to your property. Something similar is happening on our street too -- a gorgeous residential neighborhood and they want to turn it into a highway and it will bring down the property values. I'm glad you made it an issue. Everyone who's been criticizing you are probably renters to boot.

She must be retired and alot of time on her hands! If someone got hit on the street, they would probably say it was because there are no lines in the street!! I agree, get a life!

What a buch of Fools. That is hardly worth complaining about. It is a "Non Issue, and should be a "Non" Story as well. This did not deserve air time
