A Hampshire County family's faith in God kept them alive when their house went up in flames.

Ashes are all that remain of Raymond Glick's home, but he is sure signs of his trust in God are glimpsing through.

"We believe God allowed it to happen when we weren't here for a reason. Could have happened in the middle of the night; could have lost all our children," Glick said.

Around 8:30 Wednesday night his Huntington house was destroyed by fire. No one was home. Glick, his wife and six children were at church.

Glick is one of the pastors at the Pioneer Valley Mennonite Church in Russell. He and his family were there for a regional Mennonite conference.

"About 8:45 I got a phone call at church from a neighbor saying our house was in flames," Glick said.

Glick got there to see his home on fire with half a dozen fire departments trying to put it out. He said he doesn't have home owner's insurance. Luck for him, he has a second family within his congregation who will help rebuild the house and keep his faith unfaltering.

"Our church is like a family to us. They gave us a place to sleep, clothes, temporary house and will help us rebuild," Glick said.
