Crews are gearing up for the 59th annual Firemen's Association Carnival in Southwick. It is held on the green behind Powder Mill School.

On the Friday night before the carnival begins, crews set up a structure that will support a canopy of lights for evening activities.

The workers said the carnival is not only fun, but it also raises money for a good cause.

"A third of the money toward the ambulance and rescue funds. A third of the money goes toward the scholarship account. And a third of the money goes into the general fund which we use for different groups," John Westcott of Southwick said.

The carnival begins Thursday, Sept. 10, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 12.
