A day at work for one Northampton company was spent outside helping others.

From hauling brush to hammering nails, employees of Gravity Switch took their teamwork outside the office to help Habitat for Humanity. Everyone that works at the Northampton-based web design company took the day off to build a solar-paneled duplex that will eventually house two needy families.

"We know the need is pervasive here in Northampton and Amherst and this will be a model to use to serve two families instead of one," said M.J. Adams of the Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Which is more and more important in a down economy where everyone is having financial troubles. The owner of Gravity Switch hopes to inspire others to give back as he's doing with his company.

"With any sort of recession, people look internally at themselves and the community third. I look at it the other way around. If you feed the community, you feed your employees, therefore it feeds your company," said Jason Mark, Owner of Gravity Switch.

Habitat officials hope to have the house built by next fall.

Way to go Gravity Switch! Wish more folks were willing to put some time aside to help those less fortunate. ~:)
