Just when the swimming pool season heats up, one local business is taking a step back. That's after an alleged drunk driver plows right through the store.

Jarvis Pool and Spa is open for business, but someone Friday morning, tried to take them out.

"I would've guessed an explosion of some sort," says pool store manager, Derrick Adams, as he surveys the damage.

The damage was not caused by an explosion, but instead, a small Subaru Legacy.

"I figured the car went maybe through one of the windows and that's it. I never imagined it would be literally through the office," Adams says.

Montague Police say it happened early Friday morning. A drunk driver, careening off Unity Street, and instead of following the road, she went right through the main office of pool shop.

"It's just a wreck. I would've never figured a car would be able to go through one wall, through both desks in the office and keep going," Adams says.

An entire wall that was attached to the rest of the building is now just a flap of it's former self.

Police say behind the wheel, was a highly intoxicated Lela Ehalt.

They say the 32 year old from Vermont, didn't just smash through the business, she plowed right through it, and kept going.

Ehalt was halted minutes later in downtown Turners Falls. She's facing a slew of charges including leaving the scene of property damage and operating under the influence.

"Everybody needs to take care when they're drinking and be responsible. When they're not, this is the result," Adams says.

Ehalt will face those charges on Monday. While the office will need to be rebuilt, the pool store is still open for business.
