A woman survives a freak accident, after her car plunges off a four story garage and onto a busy Downtown Springfield street.

The accident disrupted rush hour on the corner of Dwight and Harrison streets Monday afternoon.

CBS 3 cameras were rolling as a pregnant woman is rolled away on a stretcher. Minutes before, her car was in a free fall, crashing four stories onto Dwight Street.

Cookie Rivera was driving with her family when a scene straight from the movies played out before her eyes.

"In the blink of an eye. It happened so fast," Rivera says.

Witnesses say her blue Hyundai Sonata was sent airborne, and flipped once while dropping four stories. Numerous cars were on the street, and a woman was crossing an intersection when they all saw the car come crashing down.

"As the car was coming down, she ran for her life," Rivera says.

Witnesses believe the woman accidentally put her car in reverse instead of drive, and crashed through the gate-barrier. The car fell roof first, trapping the woman inside. Three bystanders helped her escape.

Thirty minutes later, the car was on all fours and when overturned, one could see the evidence of how close of a call this was. The driver's side windshield was flatted, providing no wiggle-room for the pregnant mom to be.

Police aren't releasing the victim's name.

She was transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The condition of her unborn baby is not known.

I was the person who was crossing the street and ran as I was only within feet of the falling car/
