The Holyoke teacher found in a West Virginia motel room with a 15 year old student is returned to Massachusetts. Lisa Lavoie was escorted by police from Bradley International Airport to the Holyoke Police Department Thursday afternoon. She ignored a barrage of reporter questions as she was walked through the front doors.

The former Maurice A. Donahue Elementary School teacher was charged with kidnapping in West Virginia, which carries a possible life sentence, but those charges were dropped before she made the trip home.

"Would I have preferred them to maintain that charge until we see the outcome here?" asks Holyoke Police Chief Anthony Scott. "Yes. But that's not my choice."

Lavoie will be charged with enticing a minor and faces a maximum five year sentence. Police say they believe they have enough evidence to charge her with statutory rape, but not the authorization.

"The District Attorney's office authorized us to charge her with enticement," says Chief Scott. "That's the only charge they authorized us to make."

The District Attorney's office says more charges are possible, and Chief Scott says this crime deserves the harshest punishment possible.

"The kids youth was taken away from him by this teacher," says Chief Scott. "That's my opinion."

Lavoie will be arraigned Friday morning in Holyoke District Court and she has resigned her teaching position.

The student is currently in the custody of the Department of Children and Families, and schools officials say his class records have been given to family members so he can be enrolled in a new school district while in state custody.
