Searching through the rubble...
Residents are looking for what's left of their belongings.
On Friday night, a fire ripped through an apartment complex on First Street in Adams -- leaving nothing behind but a burnt dilapidated mess.
Adams Fire Chief Stephen Brown said, "It moved very quickly, it actually broke through the front of the building and when it got out underneath the porches is spread laterally and within several minutes it involved the entire block."

The blaze lit up the eastern hill above the town and drew crowds of onlookers.
Many of them took pictures and videos of the flames and smoke billowing into the sky.

Heath Tistle was a witness to the fire. "The flames were 40 or 50 feet in the air and and people were running everywhere as the police and fire departments came in," he said.

Amazingly, firefighters were able to save the neighboring building.
Only 3 feet away from the burning building.

Nathan Disanti grew up at the complex where his aunt has lived for over 60 years. Thankfully she made it out okay, but all of their family memories were destroyed. "You just can't replace that many years worth of stuff, she doesn't even have a picture of her husband which is unbelievable," he said.

A few others were more fortunate.
This family was able to recover their safe.
Inside they found old family photo's and savings bonds which were nearly destroyed.
But everything else is gone.
Officials say the fire was caused by a candle which was left burning in one of the apartments unattended.
No one was injured during the blaze.
