With fuel prices at an all time high, many people are worried about how they'll heat their homes this winter. Residents in one Western Massachusetts county are feeling the pinch more than others.

If you live in Franklin County and heat your home with oil, you're paying more than just about anyone else in New England.
Prices for home heating oil in Franklin County range from $3.69 to more than $4.00 a gallon. In Hampshire County the range is $3.20 to $3.79, and in Hampden County it's $3.25 to $3.60 a gallon.

Officials at Rice Oil and Propane in Greenfield blames the distance they have to go to get the oil. "We pick up our fuel in Wethersfield, Connecticut, because we have bio-fuel that causes extra transportation. We can only haul 7,500 gallons versus 10,000," explained Terry Veber of Rice Oil and Propane.

Veber says they deliver through rugged terrain that takes more training for their drivers. But more than anything, he blames the suppliers higher up on the distribution chain who are charging more.
