Man Killed in Springfield Crash

By Doug Lezette

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - State police say one person died in an early morning crash on Interstate 291 in Springfield.

Police say 27-year-old Tobias Jarvis of Belchertown was driving west today when he lost control of his Lincoln sedan just after 1 a.m. The car rolled over and struck several trees before coming to a rest on the right side of the highway.

Jarvis was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, but police say it appears that speed was a factor.
