West Columbus Avenue Name Change

City councilor Bruce Stebbins proposed changing the name of West Columbus Avenue to the Hall of Fame Avenue.

"When you think Cooperstown, New York, you think Baseball Hall of Fame. We really want you to identify Springfield with Basketball Hall of Fame," said Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno.

City officials and businesses along the riverfront are on-board with the idea, saying giving the birth place of basketball even more attention, will help everyone.

"Changing it to the Hall of Fame Avenue could be a another step in the process to let people know Springfield is a great place," said Pazzo's Executive Chef, Byron White.

The name change proposal will be presented to the city council soon after this year's Hall of Fame enshrinement.
