Palmer House Hit By Car Three Times

By Matthew Campbell

It's been a busy week on Palmer Street. On Monday, two homes were torched and late Wednesday afternoon, another one was run into.

Jeffrey Henry peeks out from under his house hours after the crash. He's repairing damage that left his foundations shattered to pieces.

"My foundation is broken on the other side and now I have to go to the insurance company and deal with getting my house fixed again," Henry says.

That call was placed after this car veered off the road, and right into his home. And sad to say, it wasn't the first time.

"This is the third time my house has been trashed," he says.

Since he and his wife bought the house six years ago, seven accidents happened right on their front lawn and they've had enough.

"Our car has been hit, our tenants cars have been hit and we've been fighting the town to try to get something done," his wife, Vicky Henry says.

The problem lies with an unprotected curve leading right into their driveway. If a driver isn't paying attention, they'll end up in the Henry's living room. To prevent that, the Henry's want boulders to shield them from another house shaking experience.

"They told us we could do it ourselves if we wanted to, then we would be responsible," Vicky says.

Simply put, the Henry's are forced into a no win situation. Keep having accidents like the one on Wednesday, or be responsible when someone gets hurt.

"If somebody does get killed, then I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that happened, but I can't afford to keep having my house get hit either," Vicky says.

As far as this crash goes, initial reports have the woman driver blacking out moments before the crash. Her condition has not been released.
