Drive-by Eggings in Greenfield

Drive-by Eggings in Greenfield

By Miranda Grossman

Teenage pranks are taking a dangerous turn in a Franklin County town. Greenfield police are investigating a recent rash of drive-by eggings.

"Over the past several days, possibly back to a week, we have been having some egging incidents in Greenfield," said Sgt. Ralph Odom, of the Greenfield Police Department.

Teenagers have been driving through the streets of downtown Greenfield throwing eggs at people walking down the road.

"I hope police catch whoever is doing that," said Larry Riddle.

Riddle has had his car egged before, not in these recent incidents, but he knows that this type of vandalism is no laughing matter.

"It happened while I was driving, I knew they threw something, I never did really get it off the car. It's a bad feeling. It solidified on the windshield and I never could get it all off," said Riddle.

Police say these antics usually happen around Halloween, but when school is out, pranks go up.

"Unfortunately it is a time when kids have very little to do and they are looking to entertain themselves and unfortunately they've chosen this," said Sgt. Odom.

Police are still searching for the vandals, but whoever they find could face charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
