It was a gruesome scene Tuesday morning at Kimberly Spinney's Springfield house. She came home to find her house ransacked and one of her dogs dead, leaving her shock wondering why someone would do something so horrible.

Spinney Says, "I opened the door, it was unlocked which it hadn't been when I left and there was just, all my stuff everywhere, a window was broke and I couldn't find my animals."

Until she heard her dog Aurora and her cat crying inside a locked closet. After making her way through the mess to let them out she realized her other dog, Sebastian, was still missing. But she could smell something horrible which led her to another room where she found Sebastian dead under a pile of boxes.

Spinney says, "The only reason I checked is because I could see his tail."

Spinney told Springfield Police she left her home on White Street at 6:30 Monday night and was at her father's house until returning home 10:00 Tuesday morning. She says this broken window is where the intruders came in. They took 2 computers, a TV, jewelry and things Spinney could care less about compared to her pets.

Spinney says, "They are the nicest sweetest animals that I have ever met in my entire life, they don't bite anybody, they bark and that's it but that's what dogs do."

The MSPCA arrived to the scene shortly after police and will conduct an autopsy on Sebastian's body. MSPCA officers adds that Spinney's other animals were well cared for.

MSPCA Law Enforcement Officer Christine Allenberg says, "They are in excellent shape they are in excellent condition and they were all obviously very well cared for and loved."

While Spinney and police are still not sure who broke in, the blood they left behind on this door may be a clue.

Allenberg says, "This is not right this is a crime."
