Bus From Springfield Crashes In N.Y.

By CBS 3 Springfield News

A Greyhound Bus that departed from the Springfield bus terminal slammed into an overpass on the Henry Hudson in Riverdale, NY, Friday night.

The accident caused the roof to peel away and debris to drop onto the occupied seats.

“Thank God I'm alive, I’m not going to lie to you, I thank God that I am alive. I was so scared,” said William Tedesci.

Six people were hurt and transported to a medical facility for treatment. The injuries are not life threatening.

The bus was headed for the Port Authority from Springfield and it stopped in Hartford, Conn. along the way. The bus wasn't supposed to be driving on the Henry Hudson. Passengers said the driver seemed to be making up for lost time and didn't see the signs for low clearance.

“All I heard was an explosion. [I] still can't believe that this happened,” said Colletia Gonzales, a crash victim.
