20 Month Old Found Wandering in Springfield Alone

By CBS 3 Springfield News

A toddler is in state custody after she was found wandering the streets of Springfield alone Thursday morning.

It happened at around 8:45 Thursday morning on Union Street near Main.

A passer-by found the 20-month old girl trying to cross the street, soaking wet in pink pajamas. Officers knocked on several doors in the area in an attempt to find the parents.

The police say the father came to the police department several hours later saying his child was missing. The father claims he slipped and knocked himself out in the shower, but police couldn't find a lump on his head.

The toddler will remain in DSS custody while police get to the bottom of this one.
