Just hours away from tax filing deadlines, hundreds of Western Mass residents were shocked to learn all post offices, except one, closed well before midnight.

The only open post office in the state could be found in Boston. To find the nearest one to Western Mass, residents here had to drive all the way to Windsor Locks, CT.

"The anticipation of them being closed was totally not even a thought. They've always been open to midnight in the previous years," says upset resident Melissa Van Wart.

Residents say this wasn't the first time that post offices were closed. According to them, the same scenario played out in 2007.
