Generations ago, cupids arrow seemed easier to aim. But in today's hectic world, love seems harder find.

Finding your perfect match in nightclubs, bars, and even on-line, has worn thin for some singles. But cyber dating like E-Harmony and Match.com have paved the way for one of the oldest professions to make a resurgence. "We have loads of happy couples and once a week we get news of a happy couple," said Lanie Delphin, founder of Mass Match.

The village "yenta" is making a return, as the modern day professional matchmaker, like Lanie Delphin who began Mass Match dating service out of Amherst about six years ago. She meets with clients who don't have time to sift through Internet profiles and are looking for something serious. "I coach people, since many are not comfortable dating. I talk to people all the time, coaching them in the process," said Delphin.

Matchmaking is a booming industry. There are between 1,500 and 2,000 professional matchmakers nationwide. Many people right here in Western Mass are turning to it. "I am looking for someone with a great personality, and who is sarcastic," said Stephanie Longtin, who signed up with another "head hunter of love" in Western Mass called The Relationship Co.

Longtin is hoping to find a connection. "I'm looking for somebody who is serious, who wants what I want out of life. Somebody who accepts me for who I am." With Elissa Gouge, the president of The Relationship Company basically doing the best advertising for clients, her clients are less likely to miss out on that special someone. "Somebody can look like they are a great match when they are not. But we work closely with people and really get to know them, that guides us to help us make matches," said Gouge.

The personal attention and detail to your love-life comes at a cost. Matchmakers in cities like New York and Los Angeles can charge up to $100,000. Luckily, you don't have to dig that deep into your wallet for matchmakers in Western Mass.
