Presidential Candidate to Make Springfield Stop

By CBS 3 Springfield News

Hillary Clinton will be in Springfield Monday to speak at Springfield College. She's also hoping to drum up some votes.

Clinton just lost the South Carolina Democratic primary to Senator Barack Obama. She's coming to New England to speak to her supporters in the region. Congressman Richard Neal says he has been pressing her campaign to make a stop in Springfield for months. He hopes that Monday's frum will help Clinton connect with area voters.

"You have an opportunity here, I hope, to see the next president of the United States and she is imminently qualified, and she will take questions and field questions, and she will outline many proposals and I think that's part of the vetting process that we embrace for our presidential candidates," says Representative Neal.

Clinton will appear at Springfield College Monday at 11:30a.m. In the Blake Arena. The event is open to the public.

CBS 3 Springfield will have complete coverage of Hillary Clinton's visit to the City of Homes starting on CBS 3 Springfield News at 6:00.
