The 1938 hurricane made a permanent impression on all those who went through it. A generation of Western Massachusetts residents that went through much--  The Great Depression, The Great War, and The Great Hurricane, all in a short span of time. Seventy-years later, few remain to tell the story that must be heard...The Great New England Hurricane is the only manifestation of the perfect eclipse of calamity whose return still faintly looms over areas changed forever those many decades ago. CBS 3 Springfield spoke to many local residents from across the region, and the imagery they described was quite astounding. Several of these accounts are here to share with you, perhaps to establish a good picture of what the next 'Great One' might be like.
