Designer Stephen Saint-Onge provides 5 no-fuss ways to add holiday cheer just in time for your party.

1. A WARM WELCOME Greet guests with an entry table of flutes brimming with sparkling wine. Stephen added a hint of black currant cassis to give each drink a red hue. Small votives offer a soft glow.

2. GREAT CLIPS An everyday entry mirror becomes a holiday focal point when topped with greens clipped from your yard. Leave the greens au naturel or embellish with a few decorative ornaments.

3. MARKET BLOOMS Start with store-bought flowers, such as snapdragons or roses, and add sprigs of pine or fir. Floating cranberries in the glass vase turn an otherwise basic bunch into a holiday beauty.

4. CENTER OF ATTENTION The dining room table is certain to attract all eyes, so top it right. “A centerpiece functions like artwork,” Stephen says. Your table can set the palette for the entire season with three glass lanterns and a garland woven through them in an S shape. Add pinecones for interest. Or place apothecary jars filled with fruit and ornaments atop a full-length mirror on the tabletop. Spread greens and small ornaments around the jars to complete the scene.

5. WORD PLAY Stephen likes his holiday décor to speak to guests, sometimes literally. He uses a small collection of wooden blocks to spell out words that ring true of the occasion. Spread them around the house to decorate a mantel or side table with “Home,” “Joy,” “Merry Christmas,” or any word you like.
